Sunday Jazz Fills the Detroit Institute of Arts With Music This November

Sunday afternoons at the Detroit Institute of Arts come with a soundtrack this November, as the museum’s calendar fills the month with live jazz in one of the most beautiful art spaces in America.

The DIA lists jazz performances on the Sundays of November 1, 8, 15 and 22, 2026, inviting visitors to pair an afternoon among the galleries with the warmth of live music. It is a very Detroit combination: a city that helped shape American jazz, celebrating it inside a museum that holds one of the finest art collections in the country, from the murals of Diego Rivera’s Detroit Industry cycle to treasures of European, African and American art.

Live music has long been part of the DIA experience, and the November jazz dates make an easy, joyful plan: come for a favorite exhibition, stay for a set, and let the kids discover that a museum can swing. Programs like these are included with the museum experience for visitors, and residents of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties always enjoy free general admission.

Check the museum’s calendar at dia.org for set times before you go, and make a Sunday of it in Midtown.
