Climb Into the Cockpit: Demo Day at Wings Over the Rockies on November 21

Ever wondered what it feels like to sit in the cockpit of a Thunderbird jet? On Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver opens the canopies for Cockpit Demo Day, its beloved monthly invitation to climb in, look around and learn.

November’s featured aircraft are a pilot’s dream lineup: the EB-57E Canberra, the tiny Bede BD-5 (wheelchair accessible), the EA-6B Prowler, a Thunderbird F-16D and the AV-8B+ Harrier II jump jet. At each aircraft, knowledgeable volunteers share the machine’s history and answer questions, turning a museum visit into a conversation with the people who keep aviation heritage alive.

Housed in a 1930s hangar on the former Lowry Air Force Base, Wings Over the Rockies is Colorado’s official air and space museum, home to more than 50 aircraft and space vehicles, flight simulators and hands-on exhibits. Cockpit Demo Day rotates its aircraft every month, so no two visits are ever quite the same — and the museum returns on December 19 for the next edition.

For families with young aviators, it is hard to beat: real cockpits, real stories and a full day of flight. Find hours and admission details at wingsmuseum.org before you go.
