One of Colorado’s most iconic settings is about to become an open-air classroom. Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre invites everyone to a free, family-friendly celebration of archaeology, history, and culture on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Lower South Lot 2 area of the park.
Hosted with Colorado Preservation, Inc., the event brings together more than 30 exhibitors, hands-on activities, cultural demonstrations, and interactive learning opportunities for all ages. Visitors can try their hand at atlatl throwing, watch a tipi demonstration, enjoy performances by Indigenous 5280, explore educational displays and artifact exhibits, and attend engaging presentations on historical and archaeological topics.
The fun continues with free offsite cultural tours, flintknapping demonstrations, food trucks, a beer garden, and root beer for the kids. New this year, attendees can also register for one of 50 free admission tickets to the Buffalo Bill Museum, offered in celebration of International Archaeology Day. ASL interpreters are available upon request for anyone who needs one.
It is a rare chance to discover the stories of the past while surrounded by the red sandstone walls of Red Rocks — and admission is completely free. Mark your calendar and bring the whole family for a morning of discovery.
