Art lovers, get ready for a vibrant new reason to visit the Dallas Arts District! The Nasher Sculpture Center has just announced Open Form: Women Artists and Minimalism, a joyful exhibition celebrating the brilliant women who reshaped one of the most influential art movements of the 20th century.
Opening November 7, 2026 in the museum’s Lower-Level Gallery, the show brings together more than 15 works drawn from the Nasher’s own permanent collection — including several recent acquisitions on view for the very first time. The exhibition traces Minimalism, Post-Minimalism, and Constructivism from the 1960s to today through the eyes of over a dozen extraordinary women artists.
A radiant centerpiece is Judy Chicago’s Rearrangeable Rainbow Blocks (1965), twelve candy-colored aluminum shapes that visitors can watch rearrange into ever-new compositions — a playful, elastic vision of artmaking the Nasher calls central to the show’s story. Works by Mary Ann Unger and other pioneering artists add organic, sensuous forms that bridge the geometry of the grid with the rhythms of nature.
Open Form: Women Artists and Minimalism runs through April 25, 2027 at the Nasher Sculpture Center. It is a colorful, inspiring celebration of creativity — and a perfect fall and winter date for anyone who loves art in Dallas.
