Only in Texas would a park be famous for a stampede. Pioneer Plaza is home to one of the largest bronze sculpture installations in the world: 49 longhorn cattle being driven by three cowboys on horseback, frozen mid-stride across a grassy hill in downtown Dallas.
The sculptures celebrate the 19th-century cattle drives that shaped Texas history, and standing among the life-size longhorns is an unforgettable experience — kids love climbing around and photographing the herd. A stream, a waterfall, and native Texas landscaping make the plaza a pleasant green stop right next to the convention center.
It is ideal for families, history buffs, and anyone who wants an only-in-Texas photo. The plaza is free and open to the public around the clock. Tip: visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon for the best photos and softer light on the bronze herd.
