The Columbus Zoo’s home continent just got a blockbuster of its own. The new North America Trek region immerses families in the wilds of their own backyard — Mexican wolves, bald eagles, black bears, river otters and more in expansive, naturalistic habitats threaded with boardwalks and play spaces.
The region reimagines one of the zoo’s oldest areas with modern immersion design: animals roam larger landscapes, viewing puts kids nose-to-nose through glass and over water, and the storytelling celebrates the conservation comeback stories — like the bald eagle’s — that prove wild neighbors can recover.
It’s a highlight of the zoo’s continuing transformation under its master plan, and a perfect first stop of the day.
Families come to Columbus’ zoo for Africa and Asia. North America Trek makes them fall for home.
