The dinosaurs have returned to the Columbus Zoo — and this time you float to meet them. Dinosaur Island sends families on a boat expedition past more than 30 life-size animatronic dinosaurs that move, roar and (for the brave) occasionally spit.
The seasonal attraction (an added-fee adventure in the Australia and the Islands region) delights in the details: a T. rex ambush, pterosaurs overhead and dino facts braided into the expedition story. Young paleontologists can extend the adventure at the fossil dig and photo stops along the shore.
Pair it with the neighboring kangaroo walkabout and stingray bay for a morning that spans three eras of awesome.
Millions of years in the making, fifteen minutes from the parking lot: Dinosaur Island is the Columbus Zoo’s most roaring side quest.
