Navy Pier Turns “Slightly Spooky” This October with Free Halloween Fun for All Ages

Chicago’s favorite lakefront landmark is getting into the Halloween spirit: Navy Pier invites everyone to “Slightly Spooky October”, a free multi-day celebration packed with family fun — and the entrance won’t cost you a dime.

The party takes over on Saturdays October 17, October 24 and October 31, plus Sunday November 1. From 1:00 to 5:00 PM, kids can experiment in the “Mad Scientist Lab” with the American Chemical Society, create freely in the “Mobile Art Studio” with The Children’s Gallery Chicago, craft ribbon bracelets at “The Good Tree” with The Simple Good, and watch (or join!) Double Dutch performances and lessons with Jumping Juniors.

The celebration also honors local talent and traditions: the Wintrust Community Market showcases local entrepreneurs and small businesses, while Somos Arte builds a community Ofrenda celebrating Día de los Muertos — a beautiful tribute to memory, family and culture.

When the sun sets, the fun keeps going with free indoor movies in Crystal Gardens on October 17, 24, 31 and November 1 — from family favorite Hotel Transylvania to spooky pick Beetlejuice, plus short films by local youth media groups. And little ghosts, don’t miss trick-or-treating on Halloween itself, October 31!

Grown-ups get their own night out: on Friday, October 30, “Slightly Spooky: The Halloween Party” lights up the Pier with live DJs, dance music and curated cocktails.

Free, festive and for the whole family — Navy Pier is making this October unforgettable.
