ImaginOn is what happens when a library and a theatre fall in love. This Uptown Charlotte landmark — all whimsical spires and storybook colors — joins Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s children’s branch with the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, and admission to the library side is gloriously free.
Kids drift from storytime to the Story Lab’s puppet corners, build with the library’s famous loanable wonders, then settle into the McColl Family Theatre or Wells Fargo Playhouse for productions of serious professional polish — touring nationally praised, made for young hearts. The building itself is a picture book, with art and surprises at every turn.
For Charlotte families, ImaginOn is the perfect downtown anchor: books in the morning, theatre after lunch, and the city’s happiest lobby in between.
