Camp North End: Charlotte’s Industrial Playground Reinvented

Charlotte’s most exciting acreage used to build Model Ts and missile parts. Camp North End — 76 acres of factory sheds and warehouses just north of Uptown — has reinvented itself as the city’s creative campus: artist studios, indie shops, food stalls in the old boiler yard, and murals blooming on every corrugated wall.

The scale is the thrill: hangar-sized spaces host night markets, drive-in movies, design festivals and the beloved Friday Nights at Camp gatherings, while startups and chefs take the smaller bays. Water towers and smokestacks keep the industrial soul front and center — this is adaptive reuse with the patina left on.

Camp North End is where Charlotte’s next chapter is being prototyped. Go on a Friday, eat everything, and watch a city invent itself.
