Billy Graham Library: A Barn, a Cross and an American Story in Charlotte

Billy Graham was Charlotte’s most famous son — a dairy farmer’s boy who preached to more people than anyone in history. The Billy Graham Library, on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association campus near the airport, tells that story in a building shaped like a dairy barn, entered through a 40-foot glass cross.

The free Journey of a Faith tour moves through galleries of Graham’s life: the Charlotte farm, the 1949 Los Angeles crusade that made him famous, meetings with every U.S. president from Truman to Obama, and the global ministry that followed. Outside, the grounds hold the Graham family homeplace, Ruth Bell Graham’s grave and gardens of uncommon peace.

Whatever your faith, it’s a beautifully told chapter of American and Charlotte history — and admission, fittingly, is a gift.
