MFA Boston Celebrates Emerging Artists with ‘Places We Carry’ Exhibition

Boston, get ready for a burst of fresh creativity! The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is about to open “Places We Carry: SMFA at Tufts Juried Student Exhibition,” a joyful showcase of emerging artists exploring the stories, journeys and heritage that shape who we are.

Opening November 21, 2026 in the Edward H. Linde Gallery (Gallery 168), the exhibition brings together works that treat family history and identity as pure creative material. Visitors will travel with Chinese-born artist Liangsi Wang to his parents’ hometowns, dive into Canadian artist Bianca Daher’s family archives made visible through paint, and feel the redacted-documents wall by Co&Lee that turns visa paperwork into art. American artist Antonio Angel weaves migration, memory and labor through sculpture and performance, while Taiwanese Canadian Christine Chiang fuses her family’s calligraphy tradition with ceramic vessels full of character.

Together, these young artists ask beautiful questions: how can storytelling carry our lineage? How can unfamiliar places start to feel like home? Organized with support from Tufts University Art Galleries, the exhibition is the latest chapter in a beloved series celebrating Boston’s next generation of artists — and it’s free with museum admission.

“Places We Carry” runs through April 18, 2027 — plenty of time to visit again and again and let these inspiring new voices brighten your day.
