Boston’s Museum of Science Opens a Gleaming 10,000-Square-Foot Stage for Science on the Charles River

Boston’s Museum of Science just unveiled its most ambitious new space yet: the William and Charlotte Bloomberg Public Science Common, a dazzling 10,000-square-foot civic venue on the banks of the Charles River that opened October 10, 2026.

Made possible by a historic $155 million gift from Bloomberg Philanthropies — the largest in the Museum’s history — the Common is a glass-walled forum with 270-degree skyline views and state-of-the-art livestreaming technology. It’s designed to be Boston’s living room for big ideas: conversations and gatherings on artificial intelligence, climate, public health and space.

The fall lineup is already sparkling: “An Evening with Jacob Collier” on October 16, a night with YouTube science star Mark Rober, and a gala celebration on October 28.

Whether you’re a lifelong science lover or just looking for a stunning new view of the city, the Public Science Common is Boston’s newest must-visit destination for curiosity, wonder and community.
