Putt-a-palooza Brings Free Art-Inspired Mini Golf to MuseumLab in Pittsburgh Through April 18

Pittsburgh families have a new weekend game to play — and it is completely free. Putt-a-palooza: Art Inspired Mini Golf is now open at MuseumLab, the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s space for older kids and teens on the North Side, where a nine-hole mini golf course doubles as a walk through American art.

Each custom-made hole is based on a different artwork in The Westmoreland Museum of American Art’s collection, and the artworks themselves are reproduced and displayed around the course. The playful layout, created with artist duo A Couple of Putts and built by 3DX Scenic, invites players to look closely, aim carefully and celebrate every lucky bounce together.

MuseumLab senior director Anne Fullenkamp calls the mix of art and play the perfect hands-on activity for growing kids and their families this fall, winter and spring — and the calendar agrees. Putt-a-palooza runs through Sunday, April 18, 2027, open every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 pm, with free admission to MuseumLab all weekend long. While you are there, families can also explore the historic building — the former Carnegie Library of Allegheny, right next door to the Children’s Museum at 10 Children’s Way.

No tickets to plan ahead for the golf itself — just show up, pick a putter and let art lead the way around nine joyful holes.
