New Exhibition “Art From Wildlife” Opens November 5 at Baltimore’s Free Walters Art Museum

Baltimore’s beloved Walters Art Museum opens a fascinating new exhibition on November 5, 2026: “Art From Wildlife”, on view through January 31, 2027. Best of all, admission to the Walters is always free, so this is a cultural outing that costs nothing to enjoy.

The exhibition brings together art objects made from extraordinary natural materials — kingfisher feathers, tortoise shell, rhinoceros horn, and elephant ivory — materials that were banned from use in artworks starting in the 20th century. The show invites visitors to consider how artists once worked with the natural world, and how conservation changed the way art is made.

“Art From Wildlife” is curated by Dany Chan, Associate Curator of Asian Art at the Walters, and forms part of a trio of animal-themed exhibitions at the museum.
