Austin Opera: Big Voices at the Long Center

Austin Opera has been the city’s grand voice since 1986, staging full-scale productions at the Long Center’s Dell Hall — where the lake-view terrace hosts intermission and the productions inside match the setting: Carmen, La Bohème, The Magic Flute and a growing slate of contemporary American operas.

The company’s Opera ATX series breaks the velvet-rope rules, carrying new and site-specific performances into warehouses, clubs and unexpected Austin rooms, while its education programs and free community events keep building the audience a music city deserves. Surtitles and pre-show talks make first-timers feel like insiders.

Austin’s motto is live music; Austin Opera is where that music wears its finest clothes and sings at full, glorious volume.
