Austin families can celebrate trees, butterflies and autumn in the heart of the city at Flutter Through The Forest, the Zilker Botanical Garden event of the Roots & Wings Festival, on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 2220 Barton Springs Road.
The morning begins at 9:00 a.m. with a Bird Sighting Walk with the Travis Audubon Society, followed at 10:00 a.m. by a Pollinator Walk with James Giroux. Monarch butterfly releases take place at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and children can try Kids Tree Climbs with Parks and Recreation Urban Forestry from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Guided nature walks with Kevin Anderson leave on the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and the Singing Zoologist performs on the Oak Grove Stage at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Family-friendly activities and food vendors fill the garden throughout the day.
The event, presented by Austin Parks and Recreation as part of the festival organized by Austin Climate Action & Resilience, turns a fall Saturday into a joyful lesson in how Austin’s trees, pollinators and wildlife belong together ā and how families can help them thrive at home.
