Families Explore Texas for Free at the Bullock Museum on Sunday, November 1

Austin families get a perfect Sunday plan on November 1, 2026, when the Bullock Texas State History Museum opens its doors for H-E-B Free First Sunday, with free exhibition admission all day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It is a joyful invitation to encounter 16,000 years of Texas history together. In the Texas History Galleries, children and grown-ups can travel in one visit from the first peoples of Texas to the space race and beyond, pausing at artifacts, stories and displays that make the past feel close, curious and fun to explore side by side.

Because admission to the exhibitions is free for the whole day, families can take their time, revisit favorite galleries, ask questions and let younger visitors lead the way to whatever catches their eye. Sponsored by H-E-B, Free First Sundays are the museum’s monthly gift to the community, held on the first Sunday of every month.

The Bullock Museum, the official history museum of the State of Texas, is at 1800 N. Congress Ave., just north of the Texas Capitol in downtown Austin. Mark Sunday, November 1 on the family calendar, arrive ready to wonder, and enjoy a full day of Texas stories together — no exhibition ticket needed.
