Some playgrounds are built for most kids. Round Rock’s Play for All Abilities Park was built, deliberately and joyfully, for every single one. This 51,000-square-foot wonderland in the Austin metro is designed so children of all abilities play side by side, and families drive from across the region to prove it works.
There is a miniature village with storefronts and a gas station for endless pretend, a rock band stage for driveway concerts, sand and water play, sensory-rich corners, shaded swings for every body and a zip line that sends squeals across the park. Wide, smooth paths welcome wheelchairs and wagons alike.
The park grew from a community dream: families and the city built it together so that siblings and friends never have to split up at the playground gate. Picnic pavilions and mature trees make full days easy.
It sits in Round Rock, a short hop up I-35 from Austin, and it just might be the happiest acre in Central Texas. Happy City News thinks every city should copy it.
