Pittsburgh has just a few nights left to walk among more than 4,200 hand-carved pumpkins, as the Jack O’Lantern Extravaganza lights up the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium through Sunday, November 1, 2026. The nighttime fall favorite, presented by Peoples, has been glowing since October 2, transforming the zoo’s paths into a walk-through gallery of light, imagination and autumn spirit for guests of all ages.
This year, the zoo’s artists carved new themes including Zoo Residents, Cryptids, Famous Athletes from Western Pennsylvania, One Hit Wonders, Animated Movies, the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame, Japan and the 1970s. A classic horror film area is easy for younger or faint-of-heart guests to skip, and the crowd-pleasing finale, the animated Living Wall, is choreographed to three songs.
The final week brings extra reasons to go. On Monday and Tuesday nights, guests save 10 percent on food and beverages and 20 percent on retail purchases, and on Wednesday, October 28, the Witch Sisters roam the Village for free photo opportunities. The Village also offers snacks, glow gear, a scavenger hunt and the Night Train to start the night.
The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium is at 7370 Baker Street in Highland Park. Happy City News recommends reserving tickets in advance through the zoo’s official website, as the last nights before Halloween are among the most popular of the season — and once November 1 passes, the pumpkins go dark for another year.
