Get in the Game: Sports360 Puts You Inside the Science of Sport at Kamin Science Center

Pittsburgh loves its games, and now Pittsburgh has a museum exhibition that lets you play them with your whole body and brain. Sports360 at Kamin Science Center, on the North Shore, is a 9,500-square-foot permanent exhibition — the largest at the center — that explores how science, technology and passion power every play, from what athletes eat to how fast they react.

The adventure unfolds in four zones. In Prepare, visitors discover how nutrition, hydration, sleep and mental focus shape performance, and how smart design and materials science make modern sports gear protective and agile. Practice brings four immersive simulators for baseball, hockey, football, soccer and basketball, where holding your form and repeating a movement sharpens precision, speed and coordination.

Then it is game time. Participate celebrates the energy of Pittsburgh fandom, teamwork and community — the sights and sounds of a city that loves its teams. The final challenge zone tests speed, agility, strength, balance and reaction time in mini combine-style challenges, a shot against a virtual hockey goalie, target practice with footballs and soccer balls, a batting simulator, and even a turn driving a virtual ice-resurfacing machine.

Sports360 is on the first floor, is designed for all ages, and is included with general admission and free for members. Kamin Science Center, at One Allegheny Avenue, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — a happy way for Pittsburgh families to turn a game day feeling into a day of discovery.
