How do desert animals stay cool, find shelter and thrive under the Las Vegas sun? Young explorers can find out at Conservation for Kids: Desert Dwellings, a joyful hands-on program at Springs Preserve held on Saturdays and Sundays in October at 1 p.m. in the DLC Sustainability Gallery Classroom.
Designed for all ages and especially recommended for children ages 5 to 12, the session explores the wild world of desert animals of the Southwest. Kids will discover how creatures such as lizards, jackrabbits and owls survive the heat around Las Vegas, where they make their homes, and what makes their habitats so special. Along the way, families also learn simple, hopeful ways to care for and protect our planet and these amazing desert dwellers.
No reservations are required, and the program is free for members or included with paid general admission, while space and supplies last. Happy City News recommends arriving early, because seats fill quickly. It is a perfect weekend plan in Las Vegas: playful learning, nature and sustainability together in one welcoming classroom at the beloved Springs Preserve, at 333 S. Valley View Blvd.
