Families Build a Gingerbread Village From Recycled Treasures in Tampa

Tampa families can step into a gingerbread-inspired winter wonderland this holiday season, as Gingerbread Village returns to Glazer Children’s Museum from November 1 through December 31, 2026.

Instead of frosting and candy, children and their grown-ups design and build their own creations using recycled materials, then add them to a growing village that changes and expands with every visit. One family’s little house becomes part of a whole cheerful neighborhood built by Tampa kids, piece by piece, all season long.

The hands-on experience is included with museum admission, making it an easy addition to a day of play at the museum in downtown Tampa, at 110 W Gasparilla Plaza. Building together invites children to plan, problem-solve and experiment, while practicing fine motor skills, collaboration and plenty of imagination.

Gingerbread Village anchors a festive season at the museum. Families visiting in late November can also enjoy a short performance of scenes from The Nutcracker by Tampa City Ballet on November 21, and Santa meet-and-greets on November 28, with a sensory-friendly Santa morning on November 29 during the museum’s Sunshine Sunday hours.

Whether it is a first holiday outing with a toddler or a returning family tradition, Gingerbread Village offers a sweet, sustainable way to celebrate together in Tampa. Happy City News recommends arriving ready to build — and to leave a little piece of your family’s creativity behind for the next visitors to admire.
