Some of Tampa’s youngest artists now have a morning made just for them. The Tampa Museum of Art hosts Growing Creatively: Early Learners Gallery & Art Experience, a joyful one-hour class for toddlers and their caregivers on select Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the museum’s riverfront home at 120 W Gasparilla Plaza, right beside Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.
The program introduces children ages 2 to 5 to the delight of making art together. Little ones build creativity, curiosity and early motor skills as they explore color, texture and movement through hands-on sensory activities and collaborative art making. Using safe, tactile materials ā paint, natural elements and simple tools ā the focus stays on process, discovery and playful experimentation rather than a finished product. Each class draws inspiration from a different artwork on view in the museum’s exhibitions, so every visit feels new.
The museum says a child is ready when they walk and run confidently, turn the pages of a book one at a time and hold a crayon to scribble spontaneously. After the October 21 session, the next classes meet on November 18 and December 16, and spots are reserved through the museum’s registration page ā a happy, gentle first museum adventure for Tampa families.
