Tampa is looking at the world through brighter eyes this fall. David Hockney: Perspective Should Be Reversed, the largest survey of prints from David Hockney’s sixty-year career, is on view at the Tampa Museum of Art from September 24, 2026, through February 28, 2027, in the museum’s galleries on the downtown Riverwalk.
Drawn from the collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, the exhibition brings together more than 160 prints, collages, photographs and iPad drawings created between 1954 and 2022. Visitors will find the subjects that made Hockney beloved around the world: tender portraits of family and friends, sunlit Southern California swimming pools, sweeping landscapes, lively studio interiors and playful designs for the stage.
The show is organized into five welcoming sections ā On Stage and Page, Interiors and Exteriors, Tradition and Innovation, Ordinary Objects and Extraordinary Renderings, and Portraits of Self and Others. Along the way, it celebrates an artist who happily turned everyday tools, from office copiers to iPhones and iPads, into instruments for making art, proving that tradition and technology can spark joy together.
Organized by the Honolulu Museum of Art in partnership with the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation, the exhibition is a cheerful invitation to slow down, look closely and let a change of perspective brighten your day. The Tampa Museum of Art, at 120 W. Gasparilla Plaza, is open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
