Seattle Children’s Theatre Premieres I’ll Be Your Superhero for Families

Seattle families have a brand-new hero story to cheer for this fall. Seattle Children’s Theatre is presenting the world premiere of I’ll Be Your Superhero at the Eve Alvord Theatre from October 15 to November 1, 2026 — a warm, funny adventure made for young audiences and the grown-ups who love them.

The play follows 10-year-old Xavier, who goes to live with his Marine veteran uncle, John John. Adjusting to their new life together is not easy, and big emotions come with the move. Then a shared love of superheroes changes everything. Dressed as their favorite heroes, Xavier and John John set out for the world’s most famous Comic Con, and what begins as a trip becomes an adventure that challenges them to face their fears, trust each other, and discover that real-life superpowers can show up in unexpected ways. Written by José Casas and directed by Dámaso Rodríguez, the production is part of The BIPOC Superhero Project, a national collaboration creating new stories with diverse heroes who reflect the world around us.

All ages are welcome, with content aimed at children ages 8 and up, and the show runs approximately 65 minutes with no intermission — an easy fit for a family outing. An Access performance, which is sensory sensitive and includes ASL interpretation and audio description, takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 2:00pm. It is a joyful reminder that sometimes the greatest heroes are right beside us.
