SIFF Brings Back Scarecrowber: Three Weeks of Classic Horror, October 14–28

October just got a little spookier — and a lot more fun. SIFF has teamed up with Scarecrow Video to bring back Scarecrowber, a three-week celebration of classic horror films running October 14 through 28 at the SIFF Film Center.

This year’s lineup is a triple treat hand-picked by the famously knowledgeable Scarecrow staff: a slasher, a ghost story, and an alien invasion. The fun begins October 14 with Deep Red, Dario Argento’s 1975 Italian giallo masterpiece about a jazz musician and a plucky reporter unraveling a legacy of murder — backed by one of cinema’s greatest scores.

On October 21, the legendary Ringu (Japan, 1998) brings its killer VHS tape back to the big screen, the Japanese shocker that launched a global wave of horror. And the series wraps up October 28 with Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Philip Kaufman’s gripping 1978 sci-fi chiller starring Donald Sutherland as a health inspector uncovering a terrifying truth.

The best part? Half of every ticket sold goes directly to support Scarecrow Video, Seattle’s beloved nonprofit video archive with more titles available to rent than anywhere in the world. Grab your bravest friends and celebrate all things horror this Scarecrowber — if you dare.
