San Antonio’s south side is about to get a brand-new celebration of creativity. Palo Alto College will host its inaugural Festival de Arte on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Performing Arts Center (PERF 101) — a free, family-friendly morning built entirely around art in the making.
The festival marks an arts renaissance at the college, which recently launched a new Associate of Arts with a Field of Study in Art degree and welcomed new full-time art faculty. Throughout the morning, art instructors and their students will lead live, hands-on demonstrations — watch clay take shape in ceramics, see a printmaking press in action, try drawing, and discover what it takes to throw a pot on the wheel.
Guests can also step into the college’s gallery for a juried exhibition of high school student artwork from across San Antonio and a display of mixed-media work by Palo Alto’s own art faculty. Two live performances — at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. — round out the program, while San Antonio artist and educator Justin Schneider leads community art workshops open to everyone, from first-timers to practicing artists.
Visitors are invited to tour the college’s art facilities, meet the faculty, and explore the new degree pathway — a chance for aspiring artists, including dual-credit students from local high schools, to imagine their own creative futures close to home. Admission is completely free and open to the public, so bring the family, bring a friend, and come make something joyful on the south side.
