San Antonio’s most colorful fall tradition is back on the water. The eighth annual Day of the Dead River Parade returns to the San Antonio River Walk this fall, and tickets are now on sale for what organizers call one of the most magical nights of the year.
Mariachi bands drift along the river on decorated barges, altars glow along the banks, and costumed revelers fill the River Walk as the city honors Día de los Muertos in true San Antonio style. The parade is the centerpiece of a fall season the city’s tourism office describes as packed with culture and jubilee, from UNESCO World Heritage festivities and Fiestas Patrias to Halloween thrills, Diwali celebrations, and contemporary arts across the city.
San Antonio’s Día de los Muertos celebrations are widely recognized as among the largest in the United States, blending Mexican tradition with the city’s unmistakable River Walk spirit. With the eighth edition now approaching, organizers are encouraging residents and visitors to buy their parade tickets early.
It’s a joyful season of remembrance, music, and community — and San Antonio does it like nowhere else.
