Three Rivers Arts Festival: Pittsburgh’s Free June Celebration of Art and Music

Every June, Pittsburgh throws itself a free party and invites the whole region. The Three Rivers Arts Festival — presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust since 1960 — fills downtown with ten days of free concerts, a multi-block artists market, public art and food, drawing hundreds of thousands to the rivers’ edge.

The festival’s recent editions have spread across the Cultural District and the new Arts Landing green space on the Allegheny riverfront, pairing national headliners on the main stage with hundreds of juried visual artists — the largest free arts festival of its kind in the country. For Pittsburghers, it simply isn’t summer until the festival’s first weekend.

The next Three Rivers Arts Festival arrives in June 2027 in downtown Pittsburgh. Dates, artist applications and the lineup land in the spring at trustarts.org.
