The Benjamin Franklin Parkway: Philadelphia’s Grandest Boulevard

Philadelphia has its own Champs-Élysées, and it’s called the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. This sweeping, tree-lined boulevard runs from City Hall all the way to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, threading past flags of the world, fountains, gardens, and some of the city’s grandest public monuments.

Walking the Parkway is like flipping through a postcard album of Philly: Logan Circle’s majestic fountain, the Rodin Museum’s gardens, and finally the famous museum steps — yes, the Rocky steps — with one of the best skyline views in town waiting at the top.

Perfect for walkers, photographers, and families on a free sightseeing day. Practical tip: wear comfortable shoes and plan for about an hour to stroll the full mile; then run up the 72 steps like Rocky and turn around for that unbeatable photo of the city stretching out before you.
