Halloween is coming early to New Orleans, and it comes with a roar! Audubon Zoo is getting ready for its beloved annual Boo at the Zoo, three full days of family-friendly Halloween magic on October 16, 17 and 18, 2026. This daytime celebration mixes the spookiest night of the year with the wonder of favorite animals and wild experiences across the zoo.
All three days bring special Halloween activities, lively animal presentations and trick-or-treating for kids 12 and under during regular zoo hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Guests are invited to wear their favorite costumes, with grown-ups kindly asked to leave the mask-wearing to the little ones.
This year adds something brand new for the tiniest ghosts and goblins. Friday, October 16, is “Li’l Boo,” a special day designed for the youngest trick-or-treaters with later hours until 6:30 p.m., extra savings and a magical outdoor movie at twilight on the zoo’s Capital One stage — a perfect way to enjoy the festivities without the weekend crowds.
Boo at the Zoo benefits Manning Family Children’s and Audubon Zoo and is presented by Keesler Federal. Advance tickets range from $27 to $38 for general admission, $10 to $14 for members, and just $8 for SNAP benefit holders. Buying early unlocks the lowest prices, so now is the time to grab a spot for this New Orleans tradition.
