Nashville’s future art stars are already making their mark! The Frist Art Museum opened the eleventh biennial Young Tennessee Artists exhibition on August 28, celebrating the finest two-dimensional artwork by high school students from across the state, on view through March 28, 2027, in the Conte Community Arts Gallery.
Students in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate studio art programs during the 2025-26 academic year submitted nearly 600 entries from private and public schools. Jurors selected works by just 33 talented artists — a remarkable achievement for these young creators.
The exhibition illuminates their skillful synthesis of technique and personal vision, offering visitors a first look at the next generation of Tennessee artists. It is the perfect outing for families, art lovers and anyone who loves seeing creativity bloom.
Make a day of it: pair the exhibition with a stroll through the museum’s historic Art Deco building, a stop at the Martin ArtQuest hands-on art space for kids, and a bite at the Café Cheeserie. Admission details and hours are available at fristartmuseum.org.
