Science Museum of Minnesota: Dinosaurs, Omnitheater and River Views

Perched on the St. Paul river bluff, the Science Museum of Minnesota is the Upper Midwest’s science heavyweight: 370,000 square feet where a Triceratops skeleton — one of the most complete ever found — presides over halls of fossils, physics and human biology.

The William L. McKnight Omnitheater wraps audiences in a giant-domed film experience, while the Mississippi River Gallery connects science to the great river rolling past the windows. Experiment galleries invite visitors to build, race, code and occasionally make spectacular messes, and blockbuster touring exhibitions keep the calendar irresistible.

Founded in 1907, the museum still runs on its founding fuel: curiosity. School kids pour in by the busload; adults come back for Science Live theater and after-hours events. Big science, Minnesota style.
