Los Angeles is getting ready for another region-wide celebration of art. Getty has announced that the artistic and cultural exchange between Los Angeles and the Pacific Rim will be the theme of the fourth edition of PST ART, the sweeping collaboration that since 2011 has supported hundreds of exhibitions, programs and publications across Southern California.
Called ‘Transpacific Los Angeles,’ the new edition will explore centuries of creative exchange: Chinese porcelain arriving in the Spanish missions, the dialogue between Los Angeles artists and their Asian counterparts after World War II, the deep influence of Japanese visual culture on modern architecture and design in the city, and the seismic impact of Korean popular culture today.
As with previous editions, Getty will award grants to cultural institutions throughout Southern California so each can develop its own project around the shared theme, and a dedicated Getty team will lead research and community outreach. Getty also announced the return of PST ART Open House in 2027, a one-day festival of performances, conversations and hands-on workshops marking the 15th anniversary of the inaugural edition.
For art lovers in Los Angeles, the countdown to the region’s biggest art moment has officially begun.
