No trip to Las Vegas is complete without a photo in front of the world-famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign — and the good news is that this beloved piece of Americana is completely free to visit!
The glittering neon landmark stands on Las Vegas Boulevard South, just south of the Strip, where it has greeted travelers since 1959. Designed by Betty Willis, it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and a dedicated free parking lot lets you walk right up to it day or night.
It is perfect for families, first-time visitors, and lovers of classic roadside attractions. The sign is lit 24 hours a day, so the best tip is to swing by early in the morning for the shortest lines — or at sunset, when the desert sky glows behind the neon.
Getting there is easy: the sign has its own free parking lot right off Las Vegas Boulevard, and it’s also a fun stop on many free or low-cost sightseeing routes. At night, the bulbs and neon flicker to life for postcard-perfect photos.
