Detroit’s hardest-working success stories are about to get their moment in the spotlight. The Hustle, the Detroit Historical Society’s award-winning exhibition series celebrating the city’s unsung entrepreneurs, returns to the Detroit Historical Museum this fall with a brand-new round of honorees. The first exhibition in the rotating series opens to the public on Friday, October 23, in the museum’s Center Stage gallery.
Exhibition 1 introduces seven Detroiters whose everyday work keeps the city thriving: Constance Bowen, Patreze Brinkley, Micia Eddins, Jevona Fudge, Janet Webster Jones, Jonathan Peregrino and David Woods. They join a wider 2026 honoree class of bakers, chefs, jewelers, barbers and community builders — creative, independent and industrious neighbors whose essential work is too often overlooked.
The celebration continues on Saturday, October 24, with the HustleHERS Resource Summit, a day of programming designed for women entrepreneurs in honor of National Women’s Small Business Month. Participation is free, and registration is open now.
Launched in 2022, The Hustle’s first round drew nearly 800 crowd-sourced nominations and more than 73,000 visitors, and went on to win national awards for diversity, equity and leadership in history. The Detroit Historical Museum, at 5401 Woodward Avenue in Midtown, is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
