‘Art of Faith’: Sacred Treasures from the Jewish Museum Visit the DIA

Beautiful objects carry belief across centuries. Guests of Honor: Art of Faith from the Jewish Museum, New York, on view at the Detroit Institute of Arts through January 3, 2027, brings ceremonial masterpieces from one of the world’s great collections of Jewish art to Detroit.

The presentation gathers ritual objects crafted in silver, gold, textiles and glass — Torah ornaments, Hanukkah lamps and festival pieces — each one made to honor tradition and to be used, generation after generation. Displayed within the DIA’s encyclopedic galleries, the works invite visitors of every background to consider how faith takes physical, beautiful form.

The Jewish Museum in New York holds more than 30,000 works spanning 4,000 years; this Detroit showing is a rare chance to see highlights without leaving Michigan. The DIA is at 5200 Woodward Avenue, open Tuesday through Sunday.
