Denver families looking for a Halloween thrill with a science twist have a one-of-a-kind stop this October: Spider Zone at Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, open October 1-31.
The special exhibition takes over part of the Wings of the Tropics butterfly conservatory, where guests walk among hundreds of free-roaming orb-weaving spiders. There is no glass and there are no barriers – just you and hundreds of magnificent orb weavers spinning their webs all around you.
Far from a haunted house, Spider Zone is a celebration of spiders and the incredible impact they make in our world. Along the way, visitors discover the brilliance and significance of these skilled hunters, which species call the exhibit home, and why spiders matter so much to healthy ecosystems.
It pairs perfectly with the rest of Butterfly Pavilion’s October lineup, including Toxic Terrors, a look at the fascinating species that use powerful toxins to survive, and the newly reimagined Water’s Edge marine exhibit. Families can make a full day of it among the butterflies, then step – bravely – into the spiders’ world.
Spider Zone runs daily through October 31 during regular hours at Butterfly Pavilion, 6252 W. 104th Ave. in Westminster. Happy City News Denver will keep sharing the happiest family plans across the metro area.
