Columbus’ love affair with trains has a museum of its own. The Ohio Railway Museum in Worthington — founded in 1948, among America’s oldest railway museums — preserves streetcars, interurbans, steam and diesel locomotives, and offers the best souvenir of all: a ride.
On operating Sundays (seasonally), visitors board a historic interurban car or streetcar for a trip down the museum’s demonstration line, while volunteers restore equipment in the car barn and interpret Ohio’s electric railway era — when interurban lines webbed the whole state from Columbus.
The collection includes the only surviving Ohio Electric Railway equipment and the beloved Columbus streetcar No. 703.
For families, it’s simple math: real trains + real rides + real history = a Worthington Sunday well spent.
