Downtown Columbus found its front porch on the river. The Scioto Mile strings together 175 acres of parkland along the Scioto River — from the Arena District to the Whittier Peninsula — with fountains, swings, promenades and the best skyline views in Ohio.
The centerpiece Scioto Mile Fountain dances all summer in Bicentennial Park, where free concerts and the city’s July 3rd Red, White & BOOM! fireworks draw the whole region. Miles of trails link the parks to the Audubon Center, the Cultural Arts Center and the bridges that frame postcard after postcard.
Come at golden hour, when the skyline doubles itself in the river and the promenade fills with runners, picnickers and photographers.
Every great city deserves a riverfront like this. Columbus built one and opened it to everyone.
