Halloween in Baltimore is going wild — in the happiest way. ZooBOO!, the annual family festival at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, returns for its final weekends of the season on October 23–25 and October 30–31, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and it is included with regular Zoo admission.
Costumes are encouraged all month long, and children can trick-or-treat at stations throughout the Zoo while they visit the animals. The fun also includes an inflatable corn maze, a pumpkin patch while supplies last, seasonal crafts, sack races, fall-themed games, food trucks and visits from Zoo mascots and animal ambassadors.
Weekends bring extra treats. Costume contests take place on Saturdays and Sundays at the Stone Barn in Main Valley, with a bubble show at 10:30 a.m. and a magic show at 1:30 p.m. On Fridays, entertainer and ventriloquist Silly Goose and Val perform at 10:30 a.m., a bounce house opens on Sundays and on October 31, and little veterinarians can bring a favorite stuffed animal to the Animal Clinic for plush patients on October 24 and 25.
Families looking for a free extra can also come back on the evening of October 23 for Trunk or Treat, a free and safe trick-or-treating celebration in the Zoo parking lots with community organizations handing out traditional Halloween candy. The Maryland Zoo is at 1 Safari Place in Baltimore — pick a costume, bring the kids and enjoy a not-too-spooky day with the animals.
