Oriole Park at Camden Yards: The Ballpark That Changed Baseball

Before 1992, new ballparks were concrete donuts. Then Baltimore opened Oriole Park at Camden Yards — red brick, steel trusses, a view of the skyline, and the great B&O Warehouse standing guard beyond right field — and every stadium built since has copied it. Designed by HOK in a retro-classic style, Camden Yards didn’t just house the Orioles; it rescued baseball architecture.

Even on non-game days, the park rewards a visit: Eutaw Street, the festive corridor between the warehouse and the park, is open for strolling, with bronze markers in the pavement where home runs have landed and statues of Orioles legends along the way. Official tours run through the year, taking visitors into the dugout, the press box and the club level’s museum-worthy displays.

Oriole Park is at 333 West Camden Street, steps from the Inner Harbor and the light rail. Tour schedules and tickets are at orioles.com — go see the original.
