Free Week at the Jones Center: Contemporary Austin Opens Its Galleries Free, October 28 to November 1

Art lovers, mark the calendar: The Contemporary Austin is offering a Free Week at its downtown Jones Center from Wednesday, October 28 through Sunday, November 1, with free admission to the galleries for everyone.

Two exhibitions are on view. The Living Temple: The World of Moki Cherry celebrates the Swedish artist and designer Moki Cherry, whose joyful world blended textiles, clothing, ceramics, sculpture, posters, music and performance. Alongside it, HOST: Laura Lit presents the Austin artist’s intuitive, feeling-driven work. Together they make an easy, colorful introduction to contemporary art right on Congress Avenue.

The week comes with extras, too: a Deep Listening Session on Wednesday evening, October 28, and a public curator-led tour of both exhibitions on Sunday, November 1 at 2 p.m., where the two curators walk visitors through the shows side by side.

The Jones Center is at 700 Congress Avenue in downtown Austin. Free days fill up, so reserving tickets in advance is a smart move — and a free museum week in the middle of downtown is about as happy as news gets.
