Big red, impossible to miss, and even harder to leave — Thinkery is Austin’s children’s museum, a 40,000-square-foot wonder factory in the Mueller neighborhood where learning happens entirely through play.
Inside, kids engineer water in the Currents exhibit, paint with light and shadow, build and launch in the Innovators’ Workshop, and cook up big imaginations in a pint-sized farmers market kitchen. Outside, the massive Climber challenges brave explorers with nets, slides and sky-high views — parents routinely admit it’s their favorite part too.
The museum’s STEAM-pop programs, Baby Bloomers mornings for toddlers, and sensory-friendly hours make sure every child finds their way in. Rotating visiting exhibits keep even weekly regulars discovering something new.
For Austin families, Thinkery is a rite of passage — the place where future engineers, artists and mad scientists of the Live Music Capital first fall in love with how things work.
