Atlanta families have a very special date to circle on the calendar. The Center for Puppetry Arts in Midtown will present the world premiere of Pinocchio from April 6 to May 16, 2027, a brand-new stage production created for audiences ages 4 and up.
It is hard to imagine a better home for this story. When the humble woodcarver Geppetto completes his most ambitious creation ā a mechanical puppet built with clockwork precision ā the impossible happens: the puppet awakens. Curious and gloriously unfinished, Pinocchio recklessly barrels into a carnival full of foxes and fairies while testing the limits of freedom and responsibility.
Based on Carlo Collodi’s wildly imaginative classic, this ultimate puppet tale explores growing up, messing up, and discovering that becoming ārealā is not a transformation, but a choice. It is a warm, funny and thoughtful adventure about honesty, courage and family, told through the art form the Center does best.
The show runs about 60 minutes, making it ideal for young theatre-goers, and museum admission is included with every ticket, so families can explore the Worlds of Puppetry Museum ā including the beloved Jim Henson Collection ā on the same visit. The Center is at 1404 Spring Street NW in Midtown Atlanta, with 33 performance dates to choose from this spring.
Tickets start at $20 for non-members and $10 for members, with final prices confirmed at checkout. Happy City News recommends booking early for this world premiere ā a classic story, a puppet who dreams of being real, and a theatre built entirely around puppets promise a family outing Atlanta will remember.
