Atlanta is turning its camera toward pure joy! The Atlanta History Center has opened “Joy to the City: Atlanta Smiles at the Camera,” a brand-new exhibition celebrating the happiest moments of life in the city. On view from October 2026 through Summer 2027, the show draws from the Center’s expansive historic photography collection to spotlight candid moments of laughter, celebration and delight captured across Atlanta over the decades.
But the best part is that everyone can be part of it: the History Center is currently accepting photo submissions from the public to be displayed digitally inside the exhibition. If you have a candid snapshot, a styled shoot, or any photograph that captures the people and neighborhoods of Atlanta and its metro area in a moment of pure joy, your image could become part of this celebration.
It’s a wonderful invitation to look back at the city’s happiest memories while creating new ones. Whether you’re a lifelong Atlantan or just visiting, a stroll through this exhibition is guaranteed to leave you smiling — and maybe inspire you to snap a joyful photo of your own.
