Los Porfiados: The Bouncy Giants Bringing Play and Color to Atlanta’s High Museum

Atlanta’s High Museum of Art has turned its front piazza into the happiest playground in town! “Los Porfiados (The Stubborns)” is a dazzling outdoor installation of fourteen giant inflatable sculptures that fill the Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza with color, movement, and pure joy.

Created by the Chilean design studio gt2P, the installation takes its inspiration from the classic Chilean “mono porfiado” roly-poly toy. These limber, candy-colored sculptures — some soaring up to seventeen feet tall — are made to be touched, pushed, and played with. The moment visitors interact with them, the piazza comes alive with collective motion, turning art into a shared game.

But Los Porfiados is more than just fun. The sculptures are a living metaphor for resilience — not as rigidity, but as the ability to move with others, to be knocked off balance and spring right back. It is a beautiful reminder that public space is not just designed, it is built by everyone who shows up to play.

The installation is on view through November 29, 2026, so there are still a few weeks left to experience it. Grab the family, head to the High, and don’t be shy — this is one exhibition where touching the art is the whole point!
