Pirates, Costumes and Scarecrows: Bootanical Brings a Family Halloween to Daniel Stowe Conservancy on October 24

Ahoy, Charlotte families! Halloween is making waves at Daniel Stowe Conservancy in Belmont with Bootanical: Stowe at Sea, a family-friendly celebration on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in The Gardens, included with garden admission or membership.

Young buccaneers are invited to arrive in costume — pirate and sea-creature outfits are extra fun, but every costume is welcome — and set sail for a morning of adventure. Kids can meet and interact with a live pirate entertainer, stop by face painting (fees apply), and dive into hands-on crafts and activities inspired by the ocean and the mysterious creatures beneath the waves.

Bootanical is also a big day for the Lost Hollow Children’s Garden, where families can wander this year’s Scarecrow Hollow, a whimsical gallery of scarecrows, and meet Lotty, the conservancy’s brand-new underwater friend — an interactive art piece made from recycled materials that little pirates and mermaids can explore up close.

Parents can enjoy a seasonal drink while the crew plays, food trucks will serve hot food on site, and grab-and-go treats will be waiting at the Big Leaf Café. It is a sweet, not-too-spooky way to celebrate Halloween outdoors, surrounded by fall gardens just a short drive from Charlotte.
